Pregnant cat abandoned!

Pregnant cat abandoned!
Originally uploaded by Singaporestrays.
I notice this cat in my area for about a week plus and it's obvious that she may give birth anytime so I brought her to be sterilise last night. She's obviously abandoned as I had never seen her in the vicinity before.

Sterilising her means her kittens inside will be aborted. I'm not sure whether I did the right thing. Did I? It's a very subjective topic..Sterilising stray cats and dogs is a must to prevent further killings of the increasing no. of strays in Singapore. Now daily, 30+ cats and dogs are put to sleep daily! But...it's pregnant at a very late stage, am I wrong?

Obviously, this cat found a very dangerous place to give birth in - 2nd floor, under the shoe rack. IF the kittens are born, are they, smaller than your palm size going to survive? Residents are likely to move those kittens to the void deck and will they be able to endure the coldness or the dangers out there? Newborn kittens are so weak. They can't even move much, they will crawl till their eyes are open. IF they survive, are they going to jeopadise all the cats I'm managing in my area as there will be a large increase in the no. of stray cats...Then the kittens will grow up within months n reproduce more and more cats if they're not sterilise..

Am I wrong?
